After graduating medical school I initially wanted to be a surgeon. I completed 4 years of clinical and research training in general surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, then realized I wanted to change my life path and pursue a career in psychiatry. This led to my transferring to the University of Washington where I completed the psychiatry residency program in 2012. Here I received training in evidence-based treatments for psychiatric conditions using both psychotropic medications as well as various modalities of psychotherapy. After graduation I worked as an adult outpatient psychiatrist in Portland and then Seattle at a local health care organization before transitioning into my private practice.
